Sometimes it really irritates me when people use the phrase, “I heart <fill in the blank>.” There are a plethora of appropriate word choices out there. Why do people insist on using heart? It is not whimisical or cute. It is dumb.

I want you all to go to your windows and shout, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Or maybe we’re not really mad as hell, since it’s really not that big of a deal… How about, “You’re really irritating when you do that, and I guess I’ll still take it, but I will also secretly make fun of you whenever you choose to use the word ‘heart’ as a verb.”

Yes, I’m fairly certain that’s the kind of message that Howard Beale would approve…
